How to deal with potential hacking on OFc servers

This thread deals with how to record in-game footage of players you suspect are hacking. It will also tell you where the files are stored and how to play them back etc.

Console

Ok.... for those of you who don't have "console" enabled you will need to do this first. You can enable console from your "options" menu.

Speccing the Player

You MUST ensure that you are spec'ing the person concerned from the "first person" view before you start or it will be impossible to watch them accurately.

Start Recording

Once you have done that you will need to enter console and type "record xxxxx" xxxxx will be the filename that you give it - usually best to use the player's name for reference.

The record feature will now record everything that you are seeing on your screen so if you change views or whatever it will not follow the player you want to record. There is a max file size limit so if you forget to stop the record facility the recording will stop eventually!

Stop Recording

To stop recording all you need to do is go into console again and type "stop"

Playing Back A Recording

To play back your recordings you will need to do the following:

Firstly you will need to return to the "front screen" of the game. You cannot play the recordings whilst in a "live" game.

Again, go into console and this time type "playdemo xxxxx.dem" where xxxxx is the filename that you created when you started to record it.

You can stop playing the file at anytime by returning to console and typing "stopdemo"

Send off to rrserver@btopenworld.com

If your recording proves that the player was cheating, send the demo off to 'rrserver@btopenworld.com' and we'll investigate and, if necessary, ban the player involved. Please ensure you include:

- The Date / Time the map was played
- The map being played
- The name of the player (if possible)
- A copy of the demo file

Hope this all makes sense guys.
