Nvidia driver 196.75 frying your graphics card?

Seems there's a problem with Nvidia's latest driver 196.75. Your graphics card may overheat:

We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.com. Until we can verify and root cause this issue, we recommend that customers stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our Web site in the meantime.

Ok, I just back home, and I was just about to install the update this second actually, won't bother now.

me2. played last night css and l4d2 without anyproblems but I deinstalled it now and reinstall the old version.

I've been using all day playing bfbc2 with no problems . Idiling at 45 , gonna put it under load now and see how hot it gets. Probably best off removing em though.

Running at 55c slightly overclocked and under load . Seems Blizzard are blaming Nvidia and vice versa .I've seen some reports of cards running at 115c after a short time with these drivers .

Seemingly the drivers aren't controlling the fans properly which is leading to overheating.I didn't suffer this problem but I have rolled back the drivers just to be on the safe side . I'm sure it'd be a nightmare trying to get nvidia to replace a fried card.

My guess is the problem occurs only with certain Nvidia cards. Judging on base of the Nvidia forums the 9800GT is a good candidate for roasting.

Funny its a 9800gt I have , just very lucky I suppose.The worst thing is although the drivers have been removed from nvidia's downloads page , there are no warnings to anyone who might have downloaded the drivers in question.

Lokks like the drivers have been fixed and updated .
